April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)
The Title IX Office, along with the Health and Wellness Center, and other student organizations such as It’s On Us have programs held throughout the month of April to spread awareness on Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The first event kicking off Sexual Assault Awareness Month is on March 27 th at 7pm in Calvin Durand with our Title IX Guest Speaker James Wilkerson J.D., he is an advocate for sexual assault prevention and healthily masculinity practices. Wilkerson is a leading expert in consent education for fraternity and sorority chapters and within his presentation, "Consent Is...", students will learn about the deconstruction of sexual consent. Join us on the 27th to learn more about consent, Title IX, resources on campus, snacks, and so much more!
April 1 st is Day of Action where we will start Sexual Assault Awareness Month with high visibility and the opportunity to take action. We encourage everyone on campus to wear teal to show your support for survivors and join us in starting the month by creating your own teal shirt and participating in the clothesline project with us at Day of Action.
On April 3 rd from 6pm – 9pm, It’s On Us, the Title IX Office, and The Health and Wellness Center are hosting the Safe Sex Event. This event is full of activities, resources, and information for students throughout the whole night. The night will starts with tabling and paneling from local community partners within the Lake County area. Afterwards, students will gather in teams for a trivia game on safe sex MC-ed from a Drag Queen in the community, Health and Wellness Staff, and community partners. Whichever team scores the most points at the end of the game will be awarded sex toys. Throughout the trivia game and after the trivia show is over, a Drag show will take place throughout the night!
Denim Day will be observed by Lake Forest College on April 24 th during Lunch Hours in partnership with the Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center and Phi Beta Sigma.
