Acceptable Use of E-Resources Policy
The purpose of this Acceptable Use Policy is to provide the Lake Forest College community with guidelines regarding the responsible and respectful use of e-resources, which are provided to support the educational, administrative, and campus life activities of the College.
Change Management Policy
The objective of this policy is to ensure that changes to critical Lake Forest College IT Systems are tracked in order to support continuity of IT services, and to reduce the number of negative incidents which may impact College services and users
Computing Device Lifecycle Policy
The objectives of this policy are to assure that the computing resources in offices, classrooms, and labs are adequate to support the mission of the institution, support employee productivity by regularly reviewing computing device functionality and providing upgrades or replacements as appropriate, improve technical support by standardizing the vendors and models of equipment, improve both operations and security via centralized endpoint management, create sustainable inventory processes and control costs, maximize return on technology investment by re-purposing older equipment for part-time staff, adjunct faculty, student workers, and loaner devices, and promote cost-effective installation of new equipment and environmentally sound disposal of old equipment.
Copyright, File Sharing, and DMCA Policy
This policy describes Copyright law, how the College handles alleged copyright violations, peer-to-peer file sharing, and how individuals should understand the risks of certain types of file sharing given the costly potential of legal action taken against them.
Eligibility for Accounts Policy
The specific goals in publishing this Policy are to set appropriate expectations for incoming and exiting students, staff, faculty, and other guests, identify role-based access to various College electronic systems, and ensure regulatory compliance by setting clear policies regarding proper data disposal.
Email and Mass Communication Policy
The objectives of this policy are to identify UserID naming conventions, describe situations in which users’ email accounts may be accessed, explain user responsibilities regarding the use of email, set expectations for proper mass communication with College communities, identify permissible and prohibited uses of email, outline data protection concerns, and establish guidelines for transfer of access.
GLBA Compliance Policy
The objective of this policy is to ensure that all required elements are in place for Lake Forest College to achieve full compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), including adherence to the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC’s) Safeguards Rule.
Information Security Policy
Lake Forest College is committed to protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all sensitive data that it accesses, collects, distributes, processes, stores, uses, transmits, disposes of, or otherwise handles.
Password Policy
The specific goals in publishing this policy are to establish a schedule for community members' password rotations, identify College requirements for acceptably complex passwords, detail how passwords should not be "reused" or "recycled," and outline other expectations in regard to handling and protecting passwords.
Technology Procurement and Vendor Management Policy
This policy supports and supplements the Information Security Policy. In alignment with that policy, the College is committed to maintaining necessary security and compliance requirements for information technology-related products and services in which Lake Forest College data may be stored, processed, or transmitted by an entity not under control of the College.
