CRM Database Manager

Position Summary

The CRM Database Manager oversees the security, functionality, optimization. maintenance and evolution of the Development Department’s Slate CRM.  This includes end-user functionality; cross-campus integrations; auditing; data integrity; program optimization; and training and project support for Advancement staff and Slate Advancement users across campus.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manage Slate Advancement by creating and/or overseeing the creation of portals, automations, rules, database infrastructure, complex queries/reports, dashboards, tabs, and other end-user facing functionality for the Advancement Staff and other Slate Advancement users across campus.
  • Lead in planning and debriefing meetings with team members and campus partners to understand business context and project goals to intentionally inform the Slate programs and project deliverables.
  • Create and maintain integrations between various constituent databases.
  • Perform and oversee regular daily, weekly, monthly, and annual checks and corrections needed to maintain data integrity including gift, donor, and prospect records.
  • Lead projects related to the business use of the database, outcomes, and reporting to create and maintain the best user experience for the staff and inform the fundraising, outreach, and engagement strategies.
  • Provide year-round oversight of 2-4 student assistants helping with Slate Advancement projects, data, and operations.
  • Provide training sessions to Advancement staff and Slate Advancement users across campus and handle day to day questions about the database.
  • Keep abreast of various Slate upgrades and partnerships; maintain and build relationships with other Slate user schools so as to leverage and rectify needs.
  • Provide oversight of Slate database; in addition to overall data security, ensure compliance with industry regulations like CCPA, HIPAA. Manage and direct user permissions according to “as needed” access.  

 

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Slate CRM or other development CRM.
  • Strong technical and data analysis skills and understanding, and proven track record of implementing, managing, and maintaining data required.
  • Knowledge of non-profit/higher education advancement operations. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and other campus partners.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse campus community.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or related area.
  • 2+ years of experience working with data and data systems; experience with Slate database preferred.
  • Experience with analyzing and reporting/querying data, maintaining data and performing data integrity checks, building database infrastructure and user interface; Data flow between and within databases.
  • Familiarity with SQL, HTML, Java, CSS, Python, APIs;
  • Experience establishing, implementing, and documenting data processes and managing projects.
  • Experience in fundraising/development preferred.
