New Foresters begin on first day of spring semester
The skies deceivingly shone bright blue while temperatures remained frigid throughout the first day of classes on Monday, January 13, 2025.
In all, the College welcomed 34 new students to its lightly snow-covered campus for the start of the Spring 2025 semester.
The group of incoming Foresters include seven first-years, two international exchange students, and 27 transfer students, of which 18 have transferred from community colleges.
The vast majority of new students come from Illinois with a few from Arizona and one from New York. New international transfers hail from Australia and Japan.
Other colleges attended include University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Macalester College, Hope College, University of Texas, Sienna College, University of Northern Colorado, and Lewis and Clark College.
For students from Illinois community colleges, 10 transferred from College of Lake County, three from Harper College, two from Oakton Community College, and one from McHenry County College.
Temperatures for their first day ranged from a low of 9 degrees Fahrenheit at 8 a.m. to a high of 19 degrees at 4 p.m. Wind gusts as strong as 24 mph made the brisk walk to classes and the Caf feel much colder.
