Barbosa Lab students attended the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Animal Behavior Society (ABS) in Portland, Oregon with Iman Shepard ’23 receiving the Genesis Award for best undergraduate poster.

Associate Professor of Biology Flavia Barbosa accompanied the students to the international conference in July and applauds their success.

“These are prestigious awards, as ABS is an international professional society. This illustrates our biology department’s excellence in undergraduate research,” she said.

A student-athlete while at the College, Shepard majored in biology, double minored in chemistry and English, and played hockey and soccer. She is currently applying to physician assistant programs.

ABS is an international scientific society that is dedicated to promoting and advancing the scientific study of animal behavior. Founded in 1964, the organization publishes the scientific journal Animal Behavior.
