College welcomes to campus Class of 2028, new transfer students
Noon temperatures hovered near a balmy 73 degrees on a sunny first day of classes, as the College welcomed 422 members of the Class of 2028 and 92 new transfer students, August 22.
The newest Foresters hail from 32 states and 60 nationalities. In addition, 55 percent are from out-of-state, 23 percent are international students, and 40 percent of domestic students identify as students of color.
The Class of 2028 was selected from a pool of more than 5,339 applicants, a nearly 11 percent increase over last year’s 4,814 applications.
Campuswide, the Fall 2024 student body totals nearly 1,830 students from 44 states and 119 countries. Overall, 49 percent of all students are from out of state; 20 percent are international; 38 percent are domestic students who identify as students of color; and 13 percent are transfer students.
