Nearly 50 members of faculty and staff gathered to honor the published and creative work of the College’s distinguished faculty during the ninth annual Sue and Gene Hotchkiss Celebration of Faculty Scholarship.

The scholarship of 39 faculty members was on display in the Tarble Room in Brown Hall during the afternoonl event. Attendees perused a selection of the nearly 100 pieces of recent faculty scholarship, 13 of which feature student collaborators.

“This wonderful program is a testament to the astounding productivity of the faculty and the ability of our faculty to do creative scholarly work while doing all the other things they need to do,” said Davis Schneiderman, Krebs Provost and Dean of the Faculty.  Faculty looking at published work

Eugene Hotchkiss III, president of the College from 1970 through 1993, created the celebration in 2014 as a memorial to his wife, Sue, as his 23-year presidency was marked by a passionate support for faculty scholarship.

“They believed the heart of a liberal arts college lies in a faculty dedicated to teaching and committed to scholarship,” Schneiderman noted.

On hand for the annual salute to faculty, Hotchkiss said: “It’s an honor to be here. You are a great faculty and you make me very proud.”
