Assistant Professor of Business Cassondra Batz-Barbarich recently co-authored a research paper and appeared on a podcast discussing gender inequalities.

Batz-Barbarich discusses pay inequality in “Why Pay Transparency Regulations Are a Strategic Management Opportunity” with Tamara Montag-Smit and Karoline Evans of the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Brandon Smit of Bentley University.

In their scholarly paper, the authors assert that “research finds that it’s a win-win for employers and employees when workers understand both their performance relative to peers’ and how pay decisions are made.”

The paper was published in the MIT Sloan Management Review, a journal that leads the discourse about advances in management practice among influential thought leaders in business and academia.

Batz-Barbarich discussed gender bias in course evaluations on the podcast Tea for Teaching.

In the episode Batz-Barbarich, Whitney Buser of the School of Economics at Georgia Tech, and Jill Hayter of East Tennessee State University discussed their research that looks at the timing of when gender differences emerge and theories for why they exist. The trio co-authored “Evaluation of Women in Economics: Evidence of Gender Bias Following Behavioral Role Violations.”

Tea for Teaching  is a series of informal discussions of innovative and effective practices in teaching and learning. The podcast is hosted by John Kane and Rebecca Mushtare who run the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at the State University of New York at Oswego.
