Professor of Philosophy Emeritus Lou Lombardi joined the Lake Forest College faculty in 1980 and remains a beloved member of the Forester Family. Throughout his tenure, he taught many courses in the Department of Philosophy including courses in ethics, peace studies, and more. Lou’s service to the College has been extraordinary—both in founding the Lake Forest College Ethics Center in 2006 and helping to establish the College’s Social Justice Minor in the Department of Philosophy.
Lou’s service to the College also extended beyond the classroom. In 2014, he and his wife Carol Lombardi created the Families of Campus Workers Annual Scholarship to provide financial assistance to students whose parents are full-time employees at the College. Last November, wanting to continue their support in perpetuity, Lou and Carol generously endowed the scholarship. This fall, Caeli Kinsella ’25 was the inaugural recipient of the Families of Campus Workers Endowed Scholarship.
