Lake Forest College offers up to $32,000 a year in merit-based scholarship for College of Lake County students.
Our Forester Flagship Program offers qualified in-state students 100% of the College’s tuition covered in grants and scholarships.
The College also provides up to $42,000 in scholarship and grants to undocumented students. In addition, Illinois residents may also be eligible to apply for the State of Illinois MAP grant through the RISE Act for an additional $8,400 grant.

Schreiber Scholarship
The Schreiber Scholarship is funded by the Schreiber family to support high-achieving Lake County students on the path to college completion in order to facilitate upward social mobility. The scholarship is awarded to CLC students who show significant need beyond scholarships and grants awarded by Lake Forest College. This program reinforces Lake Forest College's commitment to make a quality education accessible to all students.
Schreiber Scholars receive up to $20,000 in support per year for two years for a total of up to $40,000 in funding. The fund is awarded to between seven and eight students each year. This award is combinable with other scholarships and financial aid. The average out-of-pocket cost of tuition and fees at Lake Forest College for a Schreiber Scholar entering in fall 2023 was $0.
- Must be a Lake County resident matriculating from College of Lake County
- Must be admitted to Lake Forest College with junior standing
- Must be an undocumented student or eligible for the Pell Grant
- Preference given to students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa and/or the honors program
- Preference given to students who will graduate from CLC with an AA or AS degree
The Transfer Admissions Committee and the Vice President for Enrollment will select the Schreiber Scholars for each fall term. No application is required and students must be accepted through the regular admission process.
Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be enrolled full time at Lake Forest College to remain eligible.
Kevin D. Gorter Scholarship
The Kevin D. Gorter Scholarship Award is funded by a donation from the Kevin Gorter Memorial Fund. Kevin, who passed away in 1987, was the son of Audrey and Jim Gorter and the brother of David F. Gorter ’80, current Chairman of the Lake Forest College Board of Trustees. Kevin was born and raised in Lake Forest and graduated from Lake Forest High School and Duke University.
The Kevin D. Gorter Scholarship Award is designed to support academically excellent graduates from the College of Lake County who have significant financial need beyond scholarships and grants provided through the College. Six scholarships are awarded each year.
This scholarship is awarded in addition to all other Lake Forest aid. The scholarship totals $5,000 each year for two years for a total of $10,000. Combined with other grants and scholarships awarded, the average out-of-pocket cost of tuition and fees at Lake Forest College for a Gorter Scholar entering in fall 2023 was $0.
- Primary residence must be in Lake County, Illinois
- Pell-Eligible (Through the FAFSA) or RISE Act Eligible
- Must be admitted to Lake Forest College with junior standing; preference given to those graduating from CLC with an Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree
- Student must show significant academic achievement and extracurricular involvement while attending CLC. Work and/or volunteer service to the Lake County community is also valued
- Preference will be given to students from the cities of Round Lake, North Chicago, and Waukegan and those who are graduates of Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep High School in Waukegan

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes transfer students who hold current membership in Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society of two-year colleges.
Scholarship Qualifications and Amount
Scholarships are offered at the time of admission, and may not be added after you have begun your enrollment. Scholarships are valued at $30,000 per year. Students who have a GPA of 3.75 and above will receive $34,000.
- Submit the transfer application for admission.
- Indicate Phi Theta Kappa membership on the application and provide proof of membership.
- An Associate of Arts (AA) degree or an Associate of Science (AS) degree in an applicable liberal arts field OR 57 semester hours of transferable credit must be earned from an accredited community college prior to enrolling at Lake Forest College. All coursework completed in the AA degree must be applicable toward a Lake Forest College degree and must be completed with grades above a C- for scholarship eligibility.
There is no application form for this scholarship.
If you receive a financial aid announcement or estimate of eligibility that includes a Lake Forest Grant, and at a later time you become eligible for a scholarship from the College, the new scholarship will reduce or replace the grant.
Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 for scholarship renewal.
College of Lake County Honors Program Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes transfer students from CLC who are members of their institution's honors program.
Scholarship Amount
Scholarships are offered at the time of admission, and may not be added after you have begun your enrollment. Scholarships are valued at $2,000 per year and are stackable on top of the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship or Presidential Scholarship.
- Submit the transfer application for admission.
- Students must be active members or graduates of their community college's honors program. Must be in good standing OR have completed the expected requirements of their college's honors program.
There is no application form for this scholarship.
If you receive a financial aid announcement or estimate of eligibility that includes a Lake Forest Grant, and at a later time you become eligible for a scholarship from the College, the new scholarship will reduce or replace the grant.

CLC Scholars Full-Tuition Scholarship
The Lake Forest Transfer Scholarship is available exclusively to CLC Scholar Program students. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2024.
- Applicants must be a member of the CLC Scholars Program and have a minimum 3.25 GPA from CLC at the time of application, and maintain that GPA through graduation from CLC.
- Applicants should complete a Lake Forest Transfer Admission Application and the Transfer Scholarship Application no later than March 15, 2021. A completed Lake Forest Transfer Admission Application includes transcripts, letter of recommendation, and interview.
- Complete the CLC Scholars Full-tuition Scholarship application when you submit your admissions application.
- Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Undocumented students do not need to submit the FAFSA.
- Finalists will be invited to visit Lake Forest College for a visit and a scholarship interview (separate from the regular admission interview).
The recipient of the Lake Forest Full-Tuition Transfer Scholarship award will be selected by a joint Lake Forest College and CLC selection committee no later than April 15, 2021.
