What has stood out to you most about your experience at Lake Forest College so far?
One of the great things about my experience here is that the proximity to where I live, and I really like the College because of the student/faculty ratio, which leads to small class sizes. I need to be in a small, intimate setting for classes so I can have good relationships with professors or get to know my peers on a personal level.
What surprised you the most when you got here?
Everyone was so welcoming when I told them I'm a transfer student. People were trying to tell me more about campus, and I joined a lot of clubs and felt welcomed right away.
What internship or experiential learning opportunities have you had while at Lake Forest College?
I already have a I have a job lined up because of an internship I had while at Lake Forest College. I had an internship this summer with Medline as a product manager, and in June I will start a full time position with them as an associate product manager.
What’s your favorite thing that has changed about your life since attending Lake Forest College?
I'm a first-generation college student, so my parents didn't go to school, they never graduated, and they live overseas. For me, this is like fulfilling my dream as a as a mom. Being able to get my college degree is a life changing experience, and it will impact my life forever.
Transferring can offer the opportunity to explore different branches of your career path. Has your outlook on your life and career shifted or become more focused since transferring to Lake Forest College?
When I first transferred here, I thought about business marketing, but I never really thought about a minor for minor. I like digital design, but I ended up getting to entrepreneurship and then I feel like the job that I'm looking forward to in product management really does relate to my major and minor. If I did not find my minor by taking classes here at Lake Forest College and getting to really enjoy the different topics we discussed in class, it wouldn't have led to me product management, which I already have a job lined up in.
