Internship opportunity. The college’s resources, professors, location, and alumni network, provides an invaluable advantage for students to forge their own path by providing integral internships relevant to career path interests.
What attracted you to the Neuroscience major?
Neuroscience is a rapidly developing domain at the forefront of innovative science in both medicine and research. The major is at the crossroads of Biology and Psychology but also cohesively incorporates several other natural sciences.
What are your career goals and how did Lake Forest College helping you arrive at and achieve these goals?
My initial career interests began in attending medical school. However, I have transitioned to pursuing a career in Health Law. The faculty guidance and internship/service experiences gained at Lake Forest College not only prepared me to be a competitive medical school applicant, but also aided in my transition from a future in medicine to a future in law.
How have the opportunities in college helped shape your college experience?
The opportunities provided in college created a diverse experience which shaped me into the ideal version of myself. Whether it was through sports, pre-med, relationships, service, internships, etc. I was able to develop myself holistically.
What are one or more distinctive experiences in your major that make it stand out?
While going through the classes and labs required for the Neuroscience major, you begin to form numerous relationships with your peers. All my peers were intelligent and genuine people who never hesitated to help. It truly feels like a team effort when you encounter some of the majors' significant hurdles.
What advice would you give to a high school student looking to pursue neuroscience and is considering Lake Forest College?
Lake Forest College and its professors invest a great deal of time and resources into their neuroscience program and its students. They want you to succeed as much as you want to succeed. Everyone is willing to help guide you to reach your highest potential. Never hesitate to reach out to peers, professors, alumni, etc.
