What made you decide to become a History major at Lake Forest College?
I've always been interested in History, and I was lucky to have my first-year studies class with Professor Anna Jones. That class really confirmed that I loved history and wanted to major in it!
What is something students considering majoring in History should know?
Take classes that don't fit into your "track." There's a lot of history to learn, and it's all worth exploring. Be open-minded to where the history major takes you as well!
Why is History relevant and important today?
History, to me, is relevant because it's happening all around us, even when we don't think so! It's interesting to analyze trends of human behavior, and to promote access to accurate information through historical research.
What was your favorite part of being a History major?
One of my favorite memories was taking History of Black Television with Professor Courtney Joseph. It was great to learn about cultural history, and I had a blast having discussions with Professor Joseph and my classmates
How have you used your history training after graduation?
I am currently working at Duke University as a Research Services Librarian for University Archives. I get to use my archival skills and my historical research skills to connect researchers to materials.
