This map of Illinois and Indiana shows the Chicago watershed and its location on the border of both states.
A watershed is an area of land that drains water, sediment, and dissolved materials to a common body or outlet.
The Chicago Watershed
The Chicago watershed is also called the Great Lakes/Calumet River Watershed. The counties it includes are Will, Cook, Lake and Lake in Indiana. The watershed is formed from the north and south branches of the Chicago River.
It is particularly important in the city of Chicago as well as some close suburbs surrounding it. The Chicago watershed is a thin watershed that has two watersheds west and south of it and directly east is Lake Michigan. The much larger watersheds next to it are the Des Plaines and the Kankakee watershed, west and south respectively.
Timeline of the Chicago River
Heavy blocks of text are hard to read. And important facts can get lost along the way. Along with short paragraphs, headings help web readers find their place and absorb information more quickly. As a general rule, there ought to be a heading for every 125 or so words. As you can see from this page, using them more often works too.
Links in text
Links within the text are important means of guiding your users to important info. They limit duplicate information and help keep visitors moving to key content throughout the site. You can also add a “Related Links” list to highlight additional pages or programs.
