My time abroad has been a whirlwind of adventure, growth, and learning. One of my favorite memories so far was backpacking around Europe with friends I met during my studies. This experience was both challenging and incredibly rewarding. It taught me the value of minimalism and appreciating the small pleasures in life. At the same time, traveling with a group pushed me to develop better communication skills, learn how to compromise, and be more mindful of others.

Adjusting to Greek culture was an eye-opening experience. The slower-paced lifestyle, where time seems less urgent and people express their emotions openly, was a refreshing change. I quickly adapted to Greek food, which was delicious, and I’ve enjoyed exploring the local customs and language. It’s been fascinating to witness a new way of life, one that prioritizes relationships and enjoying the moment.

I’ve also had the chance to visit some breathtaking places during my time here. Italy’s pasta and pizza were some of the best I’ve ever had, and I was in awe of the stunning beaches and picturesque sunsets in Santorini. Monumental sites like the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower, and La Sagrada Familia were unforgettable and reminded me of the rich history that Europe holds.

This study abroad experience has also been a period of personal growth. I’ve learned to embrace each day as it comes and develop self-regulation strategies in the face of change and instability. I now feel more confident in my ability to navigate new experiences and challenges. The friendships I’ve made have been a significant part of this journey, and I hope to carry them with me for a long time.

This study abroad program has been an amazing experience that has inspired me to explore more places, cultures, and languages in the future. I’m so thankful to the Cole Scholar/Demertzis Prize for making this opportunity possible. Your support has meant so much to me, and I’m excited to see where this journey leads next!
