Hunter '24, a politics major with a double minor in legal studies and entrepreneurship, is studying abroad this semester at Western Sydney University in Australia.

My study abroad experience in Australia has been amazing. I recently had the opportunity to take a breathtaking trip to New Zealand during the semester break. New Zealand is a country of spectacular views and diverse landscapes. New Zealand is blessed with snowcapped mountains with volcanic peaks and craters, stunning beaches, native forests, farmland, and agriculture. One of the craziest experiences I had while in New Zealand was trying to navigate the car through a herd of cows. I ended up getting out of the car and started yelling directions at the herd so we could get the car through. I experienced New Zealand at its best by taking many hikes though the country’s beautiful national parks. My most memorable hike was Fox Glacier. I hiked to the terminal face of the glacier valley and then onto the glacier itself. The glaciers are gorgeous. I thought it was very important to experience the rich culture of the natives. I booked a cultural experience tour that consisted of traditional food, cultural dances, indigenous traditions and their importance to New Zealand’s identity and customs. Rugby is part of New Zealand’s national identity. I took a state-of-the-art guided tour showcasing New Zealand’s rugby team, All Blacks’ Experience. Wearing the black jersey comes with a responsibility to enhance the legacy of winning for it is more than a game. The experience was incredible, and I can say that I am a rugby fan.

Thank you so much Scholarship Donors for your generous contribution and for allowing my dream of coming to Australia and New Zealand a reality. Without your financial support and encouragement, none of this would be possible. Thank you!
