Filip Kmeto '25, a double major in data science and economics, studied abroad at Western Sydney University in Australia.

Studying abroad in Sydney has been a life-changing experience that has provided me with a wealth of life-enriching opportunities. Immersion in Sydney's vibrant cultural landscape has been one of my favorite parts of this program. The cosmopolitan atmosphere of the city has made it possible for me to interact with people from all backgrounds, which has deepened my understanding of and admiration for many viewpoints.

The renowned Sydney Opera House tour is one memorable experience. I was astounded by the sheer beauty and architectural wonder of this famous landmark as I stood beneath its imposing sails. The Sydney Festival of Lights, which takes place every year and features a variety of light projections on the Opera House, really enhanced this experience.  The experience of attending a performance in its revered spaces left one with a lasting sense of awe and appreciation for the arts. This memory perfectly captures Sydney's distinctive fusion of historical culture and artistic expression.

I've had the opportunity to experience Australia's natural splendors up close through the excursions I've taken while studying here, such as traveling through Sydney's stunning coastlines, the gorgeous Blue Mountains, and summiting the highest mountain of Australia which is reality only 7310 ft tall. My comprehension of the nation's distinctive biodiversity has been enhanced by these experiences, which have also greatly increased my awareness of environmental issues.

Due to Australia and New Zealand's close vicinity, I was also able to cross this wonderful nation off my bucket list. Where I spent two weeks camping, hiking, and experiencing the area's gorgeous wildlife.

I would recommend everyone to study abroad in this part of the world to get the experience of natural wildlife which is completely different from the rest of the world.
