Amy Czauderna '25, a psychology major, studied abroad this summer with the API Summer Polish Language and Culture Studies in Kraków program.

Spending my summer studying in Krakow, Poland has been nothing short of an incredible experience. Considered the cultural capital of Poland, Krakow is a beautiful city with a rich and extensive history. From easy and reliable public transport to breathtaking views, my time spent in Krakow has been unforgettable.

During my time abroad, I was able to visit places such as Warsaw, Nowa Huta, Zakopane, and more. On weekends I often explored the historic medieval streets of Krakow. One of my favorite trips was going on a raft ride in the Dunajec River. In a handmade wooden raft, I embarked on a 90-minute tour led by two Polish Highlanders. The natural beauty of my surroundings was absolutely breathtaking. Seeing the gorgeous Pieniny mountains up close is an experience I will never forget.

For the past month I have been taking immersive language and culture classes at Jagiellonian University. Through my language class I was able to strengthen my Polish grammar and writing skills. The curriculums focus on immersion has proven to be very effective. Being exposed to the language on a daily basis has enhanced my ability to communicate in an effective manner. As I head home, I am grateful for the knowledge that I have gained during my time in Poland. Exploring new places and being exposed to such a vibrant culture is an experience that will stay with me for a lifetime.
