Mailing Services

The mission of Lake Forest College Mail Services is to provide for the campus community accurate, cost-effective receipt and distribution of all College correspondence.

Sending mail/packages

Please address your mail in the following format

First Name - Middle Initial - Last Name
Student ID # (Number on back of ID next to the date)
Lake Forest College
555 N Sheridan RD Lake Forest, IL 60045-2338

Do not use nicknames. When sending packages, please use your name as it appears on your Lake Forest College ID. Failure to address your mail/packages in the format above may result in delays, missed delivery, or it being returned to sender as undeliverable.

Picking up your mail/packages

A QTRAK notification will be sent to your Lake Forest email address and/or via SMS text message when your mail and packages are ready for pick-up. All mail and packages require a signature. Please visit the Mail Center during operating hours with your Lake Forest College ID to retrieve your items.

Student mail is delivered daily Monday through Friday. A notification email will be sent to your Lake Forest email address for packages which need to be picked up from the Mail Center counter. This includes large pieces of mail that do not fit into the mailbox, or packages which require a signature (i.e., UPS, FedEx, DHL, Insured, Certified, Registered, and Express Mail). You must come to the Mail Center during our hours of operation with your Lake Forest College ID to retrieve packages.

NOTE: Wait for an email from Mail Services before coming to Mail Services to pick up a package. Not only does it take time for us to sort through our shipments, but carriers will mark items as delivered to zip code (i.e. not Lake Forest College) up to 24 hours in advance.

Mail Retention Policy

Mail of any type (packages, letters, etc.) that are not addressed to a specific name or office will be returned to sender.

If a recipient is not a current faculty, staff, or student, the mail will be forwarded to the address on file. If there is a cost to forward the mail, the recipient can pay the cost of forwarding, or the mail will be returned to sender.

Check your mail often – even if you live off campus. Mail which is not picked up after 15 business days may be returned to sender.

Update Your Address

Alumni, be sure to update your address early and often! Click here, check the Update Contact Information box, and submit your update.

Things you should know

  • Your Lake Forest College ID is the only accepted ID in the Mail Center.
  • The Mail Center will not deliver any packages to anyone except the recipient of the package.
  • The only way that a letter or package can be traced is if it was sent accountable (i.e. with a tracking number).
  • Check your mail often – even if you live off campus. Mail which is not picked up after 15 business days may be returned to sender.
  • DO NOT SEND CASH THROUGH THE MAIL. Gift cards, pre-paid Visa/MasterCard, or money orders should be used as they can be traced, cancelled, and eventually be replaced in the unlikely event that they are lost or stolen.
