Accounting and Budget Analyst

Lake Forest College invites applications for the role of Accounting and Budget Analyst. The Accounting and Budget Analyst will monitor department spending against the operating budget and will review all budget transfers. In addition, the budget analyst will monitor and maintain restricted fund accounts, including the College’s grant account portfolio. This includes oversight of grant reporting, budget monitoring and disbursement requests from various grant agencies.

The successful candidate will possess analytical and problem-solving skills, is well organized, and can manage multiple priorities. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain Restricted Fund general ledger accounts, including grant account portfolio. Oversee Grant reporting, budget monitoring and disbursement requests from various grant agencies. 
  • Monitor operating budget spending to ensure that it is within the approved budget and notify budget managers of overages. 
  • Administer access to general ledger accounts and train new budget managers on how to access/review budget information. 
  • Serve as day-to-day contact for budget managers for any budget related questions, including budget transfers and reclassifications. 
  • The budget analyst must decide if a budget transfer is appropriate to record. The budget analyst will work with the Vice President for Finance and Planning on other budget related decisions. 
  • Assist with administration of the annual budget process. 
  • Reconcile specific Balance Sheet Accounts, including flexible spending, salary advances, prepaid expenses and other liability accounts. 
  • Assist in payroll review and perform salary and benefits distributions. 
  • Various other office duties including managing account managers and cardholders, various other reconciliations and journal entries.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency with Excel, Outlook, Teams and Jenzabar. 
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000
