Accessibility Services Specialist
Lake Forest College seeks applications for an Accessibility Services Specialist to assist with coordinating services for those needing accommodations on campus. This is a part-time, 12-month position (29 hours per week). This position reports to the Director of Accessibility Services.
Responsibilities Include
- Review student documentation and information to process reasonable disability accommodation requests for housing, meal plans, parking, ESAs/Service Animals, and academics.
- Provide ongoing management and direct support for a student caseload, maintaining accurate records and ensuring the delivery of appropriate services and supports.
- Communicate accommodation decisions and serve as a resource to students, faculty, and campus stakeholders.
- Support Testing Center accommodations, including proctoring and exam preparation as needed.
- Advocate for the College’s neurodivergent and disabled population in our community.
- Attend meetings with Director or other relevant campus partners as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in special education, counseling, social work, higher education, or similar program preferred.
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proven commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to work and problem solve independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing demands.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Knowledge of effective current and new assistive technology.
- Knowledge of UDL strategies and supports.
- Knowledge and understanding of ADA regulations, guidelines, and standards applicable to higher education.
- Familiarity with Microsoft office products.
Hourly Rate of Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 depending on experience.
