Symposium spectacular: Hundreds celebrate at annual showcase of student work

April 11, 2024

The College community rallied together on April 9 for a vibrant celebration of creativity and achievement at Symposium—an electrifying event that annually showcases the incredible work of Lake Forest College students. Hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and friends took part in the day’s activities.

The day pulsated with energy as nearly 200 students displayed their scholarly projects and talents, captivating packed audiences. The Lillard Science Center buzzed with activity from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as attendees immersed themselves in the bulk of the day’s activities, including dynamic conference-style panels, soul-stirring musical performances, a greenhouse plant sale and open house, and an enlightening poster session.

The Mohr Student Center bustled with excitement in the noon hour during the student publication information booth session. At the end of the day, the celebration moved to the Durand Art Institute, where attendees viewed the captivating artwork created by the College’s seniors, and were entertained by the mesmerizing rhythms of the West African Drumming Ensemble and the voices of the choir during the final reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

In campuswide emails, Krebs Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Tara Natarajan called Symposium an “extraordinary day of magnificent presentations, posters, music, and art,” and thanked all who were involved in making possible “a day that brings the best of student and faculty work together.”
