What made you choose Lake Forest College?
Lake Forest College had everything I needed to succeed. The classes were small and personal. The professors got to know you very well and developed long lasting relationships. It was in the heart of the Chicagoland suberbs where I grew up. It was where my sister and best friend went. The choice was obvious.
What experiences outside of the classroom do you think helped prepare you for Dental school?
Painting and putting together models. Video games funny enough. Anything that developed your hand eye coordination and small motor skills. Also working retail and owning my own business during community college to make ends meet instilled the work ethic I needed for dental school
How did your time at Lake Forest help you prepare to apply to Dental school programs?
Lake Forst went above and beyond. Mock interviews with professors, detailed guides on how to apply and what to include, resources for personal statement feedback, Lake Forest held my hand through the process.
What do you think of the new Health Professions Program between LFC and RFU?
I think its outstanding but they need to make a similar program with a local dental school!
What skills and experiences at Lake Forest do you believe will help you be successful?
There are a lot of team orientated projects in the LFC biology and chemistry departments coriculum which I did not enjoy at the time to be honest. But it really did show you how to determine who will be team players and who will be dead weight and thats a valuable skill if you are looking to become a doctor and own a practice. Team work plays a huge role, the dentist may lead the practice but we are nothing without our team.
What advice would you give a high school student looking to pursue pre-health and is considering Lake Forest College?
Lake Forest will give you the personal attention that a big university wont. If you put in the work the staff and faculty there will guide you to your goal.
