While still a student at Lake Forest College, Ron Pownall ’69 was hired by the Chicago Tribune to photograph anti-Vietnam protests during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1968. For his 50th reunion during Homecoming 2019, classmates, current students and faculty gathered to view some of the images he captured during that turbulent time in the Sonnenschein Gallery. In the Albright Gallery, they admired photos from his subsequent work over a 30-year period documenting rock and roll icons of the ’60s and ’70s in the Classic Rock and Roll Energy exhibit.
