Chicago Humanities Festival
The Chicago Humanities Festival presents year-long programming that connects people to ideas and to thinkers who are at the center of contemporary civic and cultural conversations, including those on racism. Humanities 2020 partners with CHF to enhance public access to the research and intellectual contributions of Lake Forest College faculty and grant partners. Some collaborations include:
- Krebs Provost and Dean of the Faculty Davis Schneiderman appeared as a panelist in “Chicago Neighborhood Check-in: Higher Education” with faculty from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Kennedy-King College. The panel participants discussed the role of colleges and universities as neighbors and institutional citizens in a time of crisis.
- Assistant Professor of History and Chair of African American Studies Courtney Joseph was featured in a “Monuments & Memorials” panel on the changing meaning and significance of monuments. CHF also created a “Presenter Q&A: Reclaiming Chicago — Courtney Joseph on Our City’s Black and Indigenous History”, which was one of their top five most popular web features of the year. In addition, Professor Joseph’s research on the history of the Haitian diaspora in the Chicagoland area appeared in a CHF online article entitled Reclaiming Chicago: Courtney Joseph on our City’s Black and Indigenous History and in a CHM post celebrating Haitian Heritage Month.
