Assistant Women’s Hockey Coach and Athletics Administrative Assistant

Lake Forest College, located just north of Chicago, invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Women’s Hockey Coach and Athletics Administrative Assistant. This role provides a comprehensive opportunity for an individual looking to immerse themselves in both collegiate coaching and administrative support within the athletics department. The position requires evening and weekend work, including travel with the women’s hockey team. The administrative duties are essential to the smooth operation of the Forester Athletics Department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within the department, supporting the mission, goals, and procedures of the department and the College.

Responsibilities:
Coaching:

  • Assist the Head Coach with planning practices, preparing for contests, and managing day-to-day team activities.
  • Attend all practices, games, and events, including overnight travel when required.
  • Build strong relationships with student-athletes, fostering a positive and competitive team environment.
  • Play a key role in driving the growth and success of the program through the recruitment and development of talented student-athletes, fostering their potential both on and off the ice.
  • Ensure full compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide executive administrative support to the Director of Athletics, including managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and organizing travel.
  • Handle daily administrative tasks within the athletics department, including responding to emails, answering phones, and welcoming visitors.
  • Ensure smooth office operations by assisting in the management of all operational aspects of the athletics office, including collaborating with other departments within the College to provide necessary resources and support for coaches and staff.
  • Assist in planning and executing athletics department events and contests.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain accurate and confidential records and reports to assist in the day-to-day management of the athletics operations.
  • Support the hiring processes for the department, including scheduling interviews and assisting with onboarding and offboarding.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, with collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This full-time position includes a comprehensive benefits package.
