Aleut

Alas, we are lost as the sea cow is lost

Aleut currently has about 500 speakers, 150 on the Aleutian Islands in the United States and 350 on the Commander Islands in Russia (www.ethnologue.com).

An Aleut poem, “These countries are created, created,” transcribed in Roman letters (http://www.worldlanguage.com/Languages/Aleut.htm).
