Society of Architectural Historians
Founded at Harvard University in 1940, the Society of Architectural Historians is a nonprofit membership organization that serves a network of local, national, and international institutions and individuals who, by profession or interest, focus on the history of the built environment and its role in shaping contemporary life. Working with Lake Forest College faculty, student teams, and additional scholars whose research intersects with Humanities 2020’s focus on racism, SAH will host summer institutes for educators on accessing and adapting elements of Chicago-area history of racism in their own contests. Modules from the workshop will be housed on the SAH Archipedia, an open access encyclopedia of American architecture.
