What made you decide to become a History major at Lake Forest College?

A passion for reviewing historical evidence and applying those learnings to real world scenarios.

What is something students considering majoring in History should know?

History prepares you with skills to succeed in the corporate world. Performing research and doing more with less in the word counts of your papers help act as a differentiator.

Why is History relevant and important today?

There's always the argument that humanity can grow from it's lessons learned throughout history. I like to instead focus on the similarities between human cultures throughout time and how once you get down to many of the same societal pressures, power struggles, and rises and falls due to socioeconomic conditions - we're all a lot more similar than many may believe.

What are you up to now? In what ways did being a history major help you after graduation?

I oversee my company's compliance and risk function. Collecting evidence, verifying it's authenticity, and applying those learnings to improve processes are all skills I started learning as a History major.
