Aidan '26, an International Relations and Philosophy double major studied abroad at Oxford University in Oxford, England.

Living and studying abroad has been an extraordinary journey of personal growth, teaching me invaluable lessons in independence and adaptability. Immersing myself in a new country and culture has strengthened my resilience and deepened my understanding of the world’s complexity and interconnectedness. Moreover, I have been privileged to make meaningful friendships with individuals from diverse backgrounds, enriching my worldview and creating connections I will treasure for a lifetime. The academic environment at Oxford is truly exceptional, profoundly influencing my intellectual and personal development. The tutorial system, with its focus on critical thinking, deep analytical engagement, and articulate expression, provides a uniquely rigorous and transformative approach to education. This distinctive model has pushed me to think critically and more deeply, question assumptions with intellectual rigor, and communicate more precisely and clearly. It has fostered a profound growth that transcends the boundaries of the classroom, shaping not only my academic abilities but also my broader perspective and approach to complex problems. This perspective has advanced my academic growth and provided me with lasting skills and insights that will continue to guide my personal and professional endeavors long after my time at Oxford. I was also profoundly impressed by Oxford's approach to Sustainable Urban Development, which reflects a rigorous and forward-thinking commitment to addressing the challenges of urbanization through innovative and sustainable practices.

One of the most memorable experiences during my time at Oxford has been attending speaker events at the Oxford Union, engaging with its members and renowned writers, and participating in sessions at the Debate Chamber. These opportunities have provided invaluable insights and cultivated a deeper appreciation for rigorous discourse. The lessons I’ve learned, both inside and outside the classroom, have shaped me in ways I never imagined. None of this would have been possible without your generosity and belief in my potential.

Thank you again for making this incredible journey possible. I am profoundly grateful for your support and deeply committed to honoring your generosity by fully embracing this extraordinary opportunity. Your kindness has inspired me to strive for excellence in my endeavors and has instilled in me a profound sense of responsibility to give back and, one day, provide the same support to others in need.
