Sports Information Assistant (Part-Time Seasonal)
Lake Forest College is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our athletics department as a part-time Sports Information Assistant. This role focuses on supporting the promotion and coverage of our Forester athletic teams, providing accurate and timely information for internal and external use. Under the supervision of the Sports Information Director, duties include managing sports information responsibilities, assisting with event coverage/management, and contributing to multimedia projects within the Athletic Department. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in athletics and sports media. The role requires approximately 15-20 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling, including evening and weekend work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support during athletic contests, including recording statistics, writing game stories, press releases, and public address announcing.
- Assist with photography, social media management, and website updates.
- Collaborate with coaches and athletic staff to promote individual teams and student-athletes through various internal and public-facing platforms.
- Maintain historical records and archives, including team and player statistics.
- Assist in producing multimedia content, such as photos, videos, and interviews, for social media and the athletics website.
- Support the mission, goals, and policies of the Athletic Department and the College.
- Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines for sports information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; strong interest and/or experience in athletics and sports media is essential.
- Experience with NCAA LiveStats, Statcrew, SIDEARM Sports, Photoshop, or InDesign is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with social media platforms is beneficial.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to engage positively and effectively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners.
