Recto/Verso

November 11 - December 11, 2019

Recto/Verso  features works in handmade paper, book making, and collage by interdisciplinary artist Krista Franklin. Franklin concentrates her focus on the material of music culture through album covers she pulps and reforms into new work in “Post No Bills”; which takes its name and inspiration from the textures and visual noise of street walls stripped of handbills. Collage is the visual medium for which Franklin is most known. From front to back and back to front, Recto/Verso continues Franklin’s obsession with books, and the sculptural and narrative possibilities of paper. She teaches Writing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
