Summer Research and Off-Campus Opportunities for Lake Forest College students

Not all research is done in a classroom. Not all research is done in a classroom.

Summer is also a time for digging deep into a topic. Lake Forest College provides many opportunities for students to dive into research in a variety of forms, both on our campus and off campus.

Richter Scholars Program

Qualified first-year Lake Forest College students apply to participate in the Richter Scholar Summer Research Program, a special opportunity to do hands-on research with a mentor from our distinguished faculty. In specified terms during the summer, Richter Scholars conduct independent, individual research under the direction of a Lake Forest College faculty member.

Lake Forest College—Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science Research Fellows

In this program, qualified students (from first-years to seniors) conduct research as paid fellows working in specific labs at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago.

Summer Opportunities Off-Campus

Students may take a course at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago with a fieldwork component in the Bahamas, or complete research in Europe, Mexico, or Australia. Summer programs all around the world may be accessed through our Global Engagement Office.
