Archivist and Librarian for Special Collections Anne Thomason has been appointed to serve as interim library director beginning February 1, and extending through calendar year 2019.

Current Interim Library Director Jim Cubit will begin full retirement on February 28. In late summer or fall 2019, the College plans to open a search for a full-time, permanent library director with an anticipated start in January 2020. In the interim, Thomason will work to implement relevant recommendations from the library’s recent external review.

Thomason joined the College as archivist and librarian for special collections in February 2014 and has served as digital archivist for Digital Chicago, working with faculty to create digital humanities projects on the history of Chicago.

Prior to Lake Forest, Thomason worked in a similar role at Earlham College, where she secured a National Endowment for the Humanities grant for preservation of small collections and taught several courses on public and digital history.

Thomason holds a master of science in information degree from the University of Michigan, an MA in history from Emory University, and a BA from Macalester College. She has served on the Council for the Midwest Archives Conference, actively presents at conferences, and has held several leadership roles in the profession.
