Oppenheimer Lecture to feature Daniel Gilbert, happiness expert

Daniel Gilbert, a Harvard psychologist, author of the international best-seller Stumbling on Happiness, and host of the PBS television series This Emotional Life, will deliver the 2018 Oppenheimer Lecture on Thursday, October 11.

Gilbert’s unexpectedly funny book, Stumbling on Happiness, spent six months on The New York Times best-sellers list, sold more than a million copies worldwide, and has been translated into more than 35 languages. 

His award-winning PBS series, This Emotional Life, drew more than 10 million viewers in its first airing, and his TED talks have been viewed more than 20 million times. His first TED talk, “The Surprising Science of Happiness,” remains one of the most popular of all time.

The 2018 Oppenheimer Lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest at the corner of Sheridan and Deerpath. Doors open at 7 p.m. The 60-minute talk will be followed by an opportunity for questions from the audience and conclude with a book signing.
