Lake Forest College has selected Parkhurst Dining to provide campus dining services beginning July 1, 2018. Parkhurst is a family owned hospitality company with a commitment to fresh, authentic, made-from-scratch food.
The College and Parkhurst are now in final contract discussions. Parkhurst was the first choice of everyone on the selection committee, and they have served many colleges of a similar size to Lake Forest College.
They demonstrated during the bidding process that their values aligned with our priorities. Their first core value is “We Care About People” and the second is “We are Passionate About Food.” We believe that Parkhurst will provide an excellent dining experience for all members of the community.
Beginning this summer, renovations will be underway for Boomer’s, the Cyber Café and the food service area at the Sports and Recreation Center. There will be a new allergen station added in the cafeteria, and a mobile app will be available that allows students with dietary restrictions to know where to find food that meets their needs in the dining hall. Students can look forward to giving their input on selecting the coffee for the renovated Cyber Café.
Parkhurst will begin working with the Sustainability Committee and Campus Garden immediately to identify opportunities for collaboration. These and other changes will make for an exciting fall.
We thank everyone who participated in this process through participation at forums, input on surveys, and email. We also especially would like to thank the committee members who took this process (and the food tasting) very seriously!
We thank Aramark for their many years of beneficial collaboration on our campus. Parkhurst has made a commitment to retain Aramark employees who wish to continue working at the College, and we hope that the food service employees on campus today will be here in the fall to remain part of our community.
