Notes from Abroad: Annabeth in Greece

October 29, 2019

Communication major Annabeth Gibbons ’20 studied in Greece with the Athletes Abroad program at Webster University Athens

Studying abroad in Greece was such a life changing experience for me. I arrived in Athens in March of 2019 and was completely wowed by what surrounded me. While I had been abroad in Europe the previous summer, it was nothing like living in Greece. I was able to study Greece history and art classes and actually go to sites that we learned about. I think I went to the Parthenon 5 times in less than 3 months! I have remained friends with the girls I lived with and we still talk almost every day.

While I was only around for about 3 months I was able to do quite a bit of traveling. My school went on many trips all over Greece to see different historical sites. I had 10 days off for spring break so a friend and I went to Italy. We had so much fun and ate way too much pizza! After my classes were over I had the opportunity to travel the Greek islands. All together I went to 7 islands and they were all so unique and beautiful in their own way.

Studying abroad is something that I think about every day. The memories and friends I made over there I’ll forever treasure.
