Dworkin will speak to the Lake Forest College community about her personal experiences, her work in music, and her current position with the Detroit-based Sphinx Organization.

“We are excited to be supporting an opportunity for students to come interact with an artist in a more casual and intimate way, which is why we chose to add an open forum,” said Hannah Frei, assistant director of the Career Advancement Center.

“Dworkin is an experienced thought leader in the world of music and arts administration and students are invited to come learn from her and ask questions that they otherwise might not get to ask in a large lecture or formal presentation. This is a very special opportunity,” Frei said.

At 7 p.m. in Reid Chapel, Catalyst Quartet—comprised of top laureates and alumni of the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Competition—will perform a colorful program entitled Hemispheres: South America, including music by Villa-Lobos, Vega, Piazzolla, and Ginastera.

Hailed by The New York Times as “invariably energetic and finely burnished…playing with earthy vigor,” Catalyst Quartet breaks down the walls of tradition, reimagining and redefining the classical music experience. 

This ensemble has toured throughout the United States and abroad, including sold-out performances at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Chicago’s Harris Theater, Miami’s New World Center, and New York’s Carnegie Hall.
