Number of Years Working for the College:  6

My Life Before Lake Forest:  For three years I was middle school teacher in a small Japanese town and learned to appreciate the character trait of patience.

One Word or Phrase to Describe Myself:  Never at a loss for an opinion.

Top 3 Reasons I Would Choose to Attend Lake Forest College:
1.  Faculty that care, truly
2.  An incredibly flexible academic program
3.  A hop-skip-and-a jump from Chicago

What Character Traits Do I Appreciate in an Applicant: Curiosity and Risk Taking

What Makes the College Unique?:  The Independent Scholar Program is an opportunity to design your own major, so you can mash-up any number of ideas.  The opportunity to work co-operatively with faculty on independent work is universally supported.  Last year 45% of our students graduated from the College having done something outside the typical curriculum.

Tip for the College Search: Set-up an e-mail account specifically for your college search, and then give your parents access to it as well.  At the end of the search, you cancel that account without affecting your personal account and you can stop the flood of e-mails.

Hint for Success:  Never make a decision just to get something done.

Favorite Activity in Chicago:  Taking an architecture tour of the Chicago Loop by elevated train.

Favorite Place in the Town of Lake Forest:  Can't deny it.  Starbucks for the coffee fix.

A Fun Fact to Share:  On occasion I have been known to make my own sausage.
