A Message from the President
Welcome to Lake Forest College. Perhaps this is your first glimpse of our community, or perhaps you have walked our 107-acre campus many times and know its beauty intimately. Either way, I hope this site will help you gain a deeper understanding of our people, our purpose and our programs. Take your time and wander through our different departments and links and discover the qualities that drew me to Lake Forest College.

I arrived at the beginning of July 2001, and I quickly found Lake Forest College to be a unique community of learners, gathered from 47 different states and 54 countries, blessed with an idyllic setting a few blocks from Lake Michigan, just 30 miles north of Chicago. Its small undergraduate size of 1,400 is one of the College's greatest assets, offering students close interaction with each other and with our distinguished faculty. Students at Lake Forest College are vital participants in the life of the school. Their active role in community is a central part of our educational process.

Our strong liberal arts program helps our students achieve remarkable intellectual agility. Our world needs people with this ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and to draw connections between different bodies of knowledge. Students leave Lake Forest College having experienced the breadth of a fine liberal arts program and the depth of traditional disciplines, ready to lead in their chosen fields and prepared for life.

We take great pride in this community. It is a community rich in diversity, talent, and achievement. I thank you for stopping by Lake Forest College, and I hope you will visit us often.
